Lavish SASMob Bike Shelters in Rókusi körút, Right Next to the Phone Tower
A total of seventy new bike stands have been installed at the HQ of ITSH, twenty of which can be used by the public.
Implementation lasted for one year, a significant part of which was needed for “paperwork”: preparations and the acquisition of permits were time consuming. Careful attention had to be paid to all details as ITSH, which participates in the SASMob project, is only a tenant in the building: the owner is Magyar Telekom, which had to be consulted about everything in advance. Finally, a total of four bike shelters were built: three in the facility yard and one outside the main entrance. The new shelter in front of the building has a capacity for twenty bikes and the stands in it can be used by anyone – customers and people living nearby alike. Staff members usually secure their bicycles in the bike shelters in the facility’s yard.
The project had a budget of 20 thousand euros and was funded from a grant obtained through the SASMob project. The covered bike shelters were requested by the employees in a survey performed by ITSH about its staff’s travel-to-work habits. In the survey, there was a targeted question about what development bicycle users would be pleased with. The vast majority said there should be covered bike shelters. Earlier, there used to be only ten stands outside the building, and ITSH employees secured their bikes to where they could – trees, lamp posts. The project successfully resolved this situation.
